Got the Shingling Done!

UPDATED: I set up this post in 2017 to attract potential roofers, and we had success.  Kendall Penner 204-247-0026 - is a supreme roofing company in Roblin.  They gave us the quote and came in ahead of schedule, and on budget.  Great team  Highly Recommended.

Now I can post other pictures of the cabin for all to enjoy - this page just shows how I recruited K.Penner Roofing.

We have a lovely log cabin but it is in dire need of shingles (or tin roofing).
So, I did the measurements and counted the shingles.  37 rows of shingles per side, on the cabin. 25 rows of shingles per side, on the attached screen porch. The exterior plus overhang porch is 21-22 feet (e/w) by 24 feet (n/s).  The cabin is 26.5-27 feet (n/s) by 34.5-35 (e/w).

In the meantime, here are photos I took in July, of the cabin.

So, we are looking for someone to take on this shingling job.

We can hire a roofer and crew.
We can hire a carpenter crew.
Or, we can hire a handy crew.

All options are okay for us.

What we want is a quote.  Crew must provide nail guns and tools.  We can provide shingles (per your quantity estimate) or Crew can source from their supplier.

What we want is a quote.  Then, can also offer two weeks usage of the cabin - to reduce the quote - if you are amenable to that.  Lake Front.  Sleeps plenty.  (two families). Beach front. Toys (for water). Life jackets, etc.

What we want is a quote.  We can also offer sleeping space for the crew at the cabin during the work - and meals if that will help - to reduce the quote.

We will consider a metal roof if the price is good, and you can/prefer to install that.  Lots of cabins in the area have metal roofing.
In the quote - estimate the days required.

We can provide one (possibly two) crew person and one ground support person when you are considering how many people you need for the job.

I created this blog so I could share the info in a link, instead of a big complicated email.

It is a beautiful spot. Think coffee, refreshments, lovely natural setting, away from the rat race.

Email the quote to me, Nancy, at nellymills@hotmail.com

If you have any questions for clarification, just send me an email, or message me on facebook (nelly mills).

We would like to get it done this fall (probably okay through November for vehicles to get in) or next spring (May or later), but next summer is also okay.  The sooner the better though.

We will not necessarily accept the first quote - but price matters to us, so that is why we are offering use of the cabin, and/or sleeping accommodations, and/or crew support.  So think through how you can give us the best possible quote.  We would like to have it locked down by the end of September and will inform all who submit quotes, when we have made a decision.

Thanks for considering this job.
